The Mission of Awakening and OLAFEST
AWAKENING/Art & Culture is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization that develops, integrates, and promotes initiatives in the arts, education, filmmaking, and sustainability. We seek to build human and social capital by fostering the artistic, civic, environmental, and economic well-being of people and community in Greater Orlando, Florida.
- Facilitating the collaboration of community organizations and local artists
- Promoting human welfare for the advancement of social reform using film and media as a bridge
- Screening rare Latin American documentaries and working with distributors, producers, and directors to do so
- Aiding in the development of existing local venues and inviting local artists to present their work
- Bringing together different art forms, artists, and cultures to enhance Central Florida's community
- Celebrating community through unity
- Addressing the cultural heritage, and rich aesthetic needs of the Latin American population
- Being a plentiful source of economic development and economic empowerment for everyone
- Creating a context for education, facilitation, and the creation of a sustainable community in Greater Orlando
